The split · published, not buried

62 / 22 / 16.

Every Karuneya order splits three ways at checkout. The numbers are on every product page. The maker is paid within seven days of delivery confirmation. The cluster's share is held for thirty days against returns. The platform takes its cut last.

Worked example · ₹6,850 brass-and-bone inlay box

  • 62%Maker · the artisan who made the piece4,247

Paid out within 7 days of delivery confirmation. Never later than 21 days from order, even if the buyer hasn't confirmed.

  • 22%Cluster · raw materials, training, shared overhead1,507

Held for 30 days against returns. After 30 days, the cluster facilitator disburses to common-pool training, raw-material bulk buys, and shared equipment.

  • 16%Platform · photography, packaging, customer-care, payment rails, shipping1,096

Covers the photo + video producer team that visits each cluster, the studio in Bandra, the recycled-kraft packaging, customer-care, and the merchant-of-record costs.

Why we publish it.

Every other artisan marketplace has a similar split — sometimes worse — buried inside fourteen pages of terms-of-service. Anonymity around price is what enables underpayment. We made the call to put the percentages on the product page in plain rupees, the day we launched. We have not regretted it.

If a maker negotiates a different split with us — say a one-off commission piece, or a cluster facilitator who has elected to pool more aggressively — that is reflected on the specific PDP. The default is 62 / 22 / 16. The defaults are the rule, not the decoration.
