Bridging India. Inspiring the World.
A premium marketplace where Indian artisans show up named, paid fairly, and told in full — and where buyers from anywhere in the world can read the maker's story before they buy.
Eight reasons we exist
A studio, not a marketplace.
- HANDMADE
Preserved traditions. Passed down with pride.
- ROOTED IN PURPOSE
Building livelihoods. Empowering communities. Creating impact.
- NATURAL BEAUTY
Fabrics. Dyes. Motifs. Inspired by India.
- LIVE EVERYWHERE
Real-time. Trusted. Loved across the globe.
- THOUGHTFUL BY DESIGN
Mindful packaging. Meaningful connections.
- UNBOX HERITAGE
More than a product. It's a story you can feel.
- GENERATIONS OF SKILL
Honoring our artisans. Celebrating their legacy.
- CURATED WITH CARE
Timeless pieces. Made to be cherished.

Founder · Mira Nayar
From a six-month field stint, in 2022
On a six-month field stint across Kutch, Mithila, and Channapatna, I watched fifth-generation artisans sell heirloom-quality work to middlemen at a tenth of its global value.
The buyers — in Brooklyn, Berlin, Tokyo, Bombay — were ready to pay fair, but the bridge didn't exist. We built Karuneya to be that bridge: artisan-direct, story-first, fairly priced, and shipped with care. The maker keeps the bigger share. The buyer gets the maker's name, the village, the story, and the right to write back.

Auto-translate · ten languages
The maker writes. We translate. Always.
Product copy is composed in the maker's language and rendered live in ten others. The chip on every page reads auto-translated · view original — you can always read what the maker actually wrote. We hand-edit Hindi and English; the rest we review weekly for catastrophic errors.
Indigo Dabu Handblock Table Runner. Hand-printed using traditional natural-pigment indigo. Six-yard length, eighteen-inch width.
Thoughtful by design
The unboxing is the first chapter of the story.
We treat packaging as a hand-off, not a cost line. The box is cream and deep-red kraft. The wrap is handwoven cotton. The seal is pressed by hand in natural pigment. And there is always a sprig of dried marigold or jasmine, for fragrance.
Outer kraft box
Recycled-kraft outer with deep-red ink wordmark. Reusable.
Handwoven inner wrap
Cotton wrap with single indigo stripe — hand-rolled at the cluster.
Maker certificate
Linen-stock card with hand-pressed pigment seal and the maker's signature.
Maker's note
A short handwritten card from the artisan. Yes, written by hand. Yes, by the artisan.

“I bought a Kutch cushion cover and three weeks later I was on a video call with the woman who stitched it. That has never happened to me from any other shop.”

FAQ
- Every order amount is split live at checkout: 62% to the maker, 22% to the cluster collective (which funds raw materials, training, and shared equipment), and 16% to Karuneya (which covers photography, platform, packaging, and customer-care). The three numbers are visible on every product page — never hidden in fine print.
